Charleston County EMS is seeking an experienced paramedic/educator to join the CCEMS Training Division as an Assistant Chief of Clinical Education. In conjunction with the Deputy Chief of Professional and Clinical Development, the Assistant Chief of Clinical Education will develop and oversee continuing professional and clinical education for Charleston County EMS Department’s certified providers, and manage the department’s Assistant Training Officers with education, training, simulation, research, and quality assurance activities.

Training staff schedules are based on a Monday - Friday schedule, but flexibility is required for evening and weekend training sessions.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $68,140 - $89,252

Duties and Responsibilities

Development and management of Clinical Operating Guidelines in conjunction with Medical Control Doctors and Deputy Chief of Professional Development. Development and implementation of routine EMS continuing education program. Organization, oversight, and implementation of training and recertification courses. Development and implementation of employee development/remediation processes and procedures. Researching and compiling information necessary to make decisions regarding training and clinical guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:





High School Diploma or equivalent, AND at least two (2) years’ or more of experience as a Senior Crew Chief/Captain, Battalion Chief or Division Chief in a primary 911 system OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work Associate/Bachelor Degree preferred



BLS certificationACLS certificationITLS or PHTLS certificationPEPP or PALS certification Instructor status in each discipline and completion of an approved 40-hour instructor methodology is preferred

In addition to the above requirements, the candidate must be detail oriented, able to multi-task, prioritize, coordinate, train, and engender a spirit of cooperation. Possessing excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, as well as organizational and planning skills is highly desired. The person in this position will provide staff support for EMS administration, as well as for a variety of working groups in Charleston County EMS
