Summer Youth Internship Program (SYIP) is looking for motivated teenagers and young adults to join our team for the summer of 2026!
This program is designed to help you develop workplace readiness skills while providing exposure to various county departments. This is a fantastic opportunity to build your resume, network with professionals, and make a difference in your community.
Program Highlights: - Duration: Six weeks (June 12 - July 23, 2026)
- Schedule: 20 hours per week (4 hours per day, 5 days a week)
- Total Hours: 120 hours

- Interview Process: Selected candidates will be contacted via email to participate in a virtual interview via Spark Hire.
Commitment & Attendance Policy This is a professional internship program. Selected participants are
required to commit to working the full schedule (20 hours per week) for the entire duration of the program (June 12 - July 23).
Before applying, please check your summer calendar for conflicts such as:
- Band camps or athletic camps
- Summer school obligations
- Pre-planned vacations
Missing multiple days for these activities will not be permitted. By submitting an application, you are certifying that you can attend all scheduled work hours.
Duties and Responsibilities Interns will be placed within various Charleston County departments to assist with daily operations. Duties may include:
- Assisting with administrative tasks and office support.
- Data entry and document organization.
- Assisting with special projects and events.
- Learning professional communication and workplace etiquette.
Minimum Qualifications To be eligible for the SYIP, you must meet the following criteria:
- Age: Be between the ages of 16 - 21 at the time of application submission.
- Enrollment: Be currently enrolled in high school or college AND be attending school during the summer and/or in the fall of 2026.
- Residency: Be a resident of Charleston County.
- Technology: Have an active email account and check it regularly after submitting your application.
- Application: File a Completed Application Packet. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
Required Documents All applicants must sign the
Age Certification Form.
- If you are a high school student under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must also sign the form.

If selected for employment, you must provide the following: Proof of Residency: One of the following: Driver’s license/State ID, a letter from your school (transcript/report card) showing address of record, or a voter registration card.
Proof of Enrollment: High school or college documentation.
