Biology Instructor, Full time - Tenure Track
Description
Yuba College is seeking an equity-minded, dynamic, collaborative, and innovative Instructor to serve as Biology Faculty.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES : The person selected will be expected to:• Organize and instruct, both lecture and laboratory course in biological sciences for both majors and non-majors with an emphasis in General Biology general biology for majors and human physiology. • Teach and organize the range of biology course in the Yuba Community College District curriculum;• Undertake responsibility for laboratory, animal, and chemical safety;• Prepare course syllabi and outlines;• Develop and maintain the biology curriculum, including transfer/articulation agreements with colleges and universities;• Teach courses scheduled at various times, including possibly day and/or evening classes. • Work cooperatively with staff in related disciplines;• Provide guidance to a Science Laboratory Technician;• Participate in department, division, and college-wide committees and meetings; and• Participate in the shared-governance process.• Teach in multiple modalities including fully online (asynchronous), hybrid, and face-to-face.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES : The person selected will be expected to have knowledge and skills in Biology, including:• Teaching Biology;• Biological Hazards;• Microscopy;• Quantitative Techniques;• Varied Teaching and Learning Strategies for human physiology/majors biology.• Biotechnology Techniques • Online Teaching Practices Essential Duties Summary

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications for instructors in Biological Sciences at California Community Colleges: (All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications must be from accredited institutions.) • Master’s in any biological science OR• Bachelor’s in any biological science AND Master’s in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science OR• The equivalent• Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area of Biological Sciences. Desired/Preferred Qualifications
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS : Preference may be given to applicants with:• Masters or Higher in Biological Science;• Teaching experience and/or professional background in Biology and human physiology;• Teaching experience dealing with the special needs of students who are not majoring in science. • A commitment to the needs of a diverse student population at all levels of biology;• Background in the use of computers and scientific technology in the classroom/laboratory.• Experience conducting molecular biology techniques such as polymerase chain reaction and gel electrophoresis. Physical Demands Range/Step Class 2, Step 1 - Class 7, Step 10 (New Hires will not be placed higher than step 10) Salary Range $70,971 to $113,905 /YR.(Per Salary Schedule for Full Time Faculty) Benefits Information
