American Sign Language - Full Time - Tenure Track
Description
Yuba College is seeking an equity-minded, dynamic, collaborative, and innovative Instructor to serve as ASL Faculty.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES : The person selected will be expected to:
- Develop and deliver instructional lectures for ASL courses
- Organize and teach all levels of ASL classes
- Create and maintain program certificates and/or degrees and articulation agreements
- Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning
- Assess Student Learning Outcomes every semester
- Participate in department, division, and college-wide meetings, initiatives and committee
- Prepare course syllabi and outlines
- Teach classes scheduled at a variety of times, including possible day and/or evening classes
- Work cooperatively with staff in related disciplines
- Participate in the shared-governance process.
- As part of a community of educators, the successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to participating in professional development opportunities that build effectiveness in areas of inclusion, intercultural communication, and advancing equity
Essential Duties Summary
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES : The person selected will be expected to have knowledge and skills in American Sign Language, including:
- Teaching American Sign Language
- Varied Teaching and Learning Strategies for teaching ASL
- Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications for instructors in American Sign Language at California Community Colleges:
(All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications must be from accredited institutions.)
Any associate or bachelor’s degree Professional experience related to the teaching assignment Desired/Preferred Qualifications
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS : Preference may be given to applicants that: • Have any bachelor’s degree or higher and two (2) years of professional experience in Sign Language Studies OR any associate degree and six (6) years of professional experience in Sign Language Studies. Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master’s degree. Physical Demands Range/Step Class 2, Step 1 - Class 7, Step 10 (New Hires will not be placed higher than step 10) Salary Range $70,971 to $113,905 /YR.(Per Salary Schedule for Full Time Faculty) Benefits Information
