Description
Job Summary: Our Maintenance Worker I - Water Treatment Plant (Temporary) assists the Water Treatment Plant Maintenance Worker II to help ensure safe, clean, well-maintained grounds and facilities at the Water Treatment Plant.
This position is a temporary position (10-month maximum), working 40 hours per week .
The pay range is $20.97 to $28.32 per hour, with a hiring range of $20.97 to $24.64 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. This opportunity will remain open until filled.
Essential Functions: - Helps ensure well maintained grounds, trees, shrubs and flower beds by assisting our Maintenance Worker II and operations staff with mowing, planting, watering, mulching, tree removal, landscaping, pesticide and fertilizer application, weeding, and performing small equipment engine maintenance.
- Assists our Maintenance Worker II with cleaning restrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning the breakroom and kitchen, and cleaning buildings that house treatment facilities.
Other Job Functions: - Assists with department projects as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Education: - Required: High School/GED
Experience: - Required: 1 year Experience in grounds or parks maintenance or related field with an emphasis on duties most closely related to the essential job functions, including operating various types of equipment.
Certifications: - Must possess a valid Driver’s License
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively in written form and verbally with a variety of people directly and using a two-way radio system.
- Ability to walk throughout facility grounds of various topographical conditions to visually identify needed work and inspect work results.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: - Frequent: Strenuous to extreme physical effort that includes frequent use of heavy objects (e.g., 50+ pounds) and may also use heavy tools or require strenuous application in awkward positions.
Working Environment: - Occasional: Exposure to marginal to moderate conditions that are unpredictable and may lead to injury.
- Frequent: Exposure to heat and noise along with working outside in the elements.
Additional Working Demands/Conditions: - Ability to do strenuous physical work and to work in all weather conditions including:

- Operating various types of tools and equipment associated with landscape or facilities maintenance.
- Lifting and/or positioning, carrying and stocking heavy items and materials.
- Removing snow by hand with shovel and snow blower.
- Digging, sweeping, raking various landscaping materials.
- Working in below ground level trenches and from above ground level ladders or scaffolds.
