Public Health Warehouse Specialist

Education and Experience : High School Diploma or GED, or higher and three (3) years of experience in requisitioning, shipping, receiving, storing, and or transporting hazardous medical materials, supplies, or equipment.
Licenses and Certificates : Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state by time of appointment.
General PurposeUnder general supervision, maintain inventory of property, medical equipment, supplies, prepare requisitions, and purchase complex stock, equipment, and supplies. Inventory warehouses, stockrooms, and yards. Transport hazardous materials.
Typical DutiesInventory management. Involves: Receiving shipments, verifying the contents of each shipment against purchase orders or bills of lading, checking for damage, and documenting any discrepancies. Tracking stock levels, conducting regular inventory counts, and updating inventory management systems. Picking, packing, and preparing items for shipment based on work orders. Entering data into inventory management systems and maintaining logs of incoming and outgoing shipments. Maintaining work areas organized and free of hazards, and ensuring a clean and safe working environment. Coordinating with shipping companies, preparing shipping labels, and ensuring all necessary documentation is completed for outgoing shipments. Working as part of a team to ensure efficient warehouse operations and support of the logistics team.
Provide service to customers by meeting their needs for supplies and resources. Involves: Receiving daily service requests from internal customers and providing supplies and resources. Review inventory records and ensure that stock levels are maintained. Order and reorder stock items to ensure inventories of minimum acceptable quantities are available to support the operating efficiency of departmental units. Prepare, update, and maintain stock records. Contact and work with approved vendors to identify price, quality, availability, and shipment date. Assist procurement professionals as directed with searches for possible supply or service vendors to be reviewed and approved by them for addition to the City's acceptable sources list. Deliver or direct issuance and delivery of stock items. Utilize and read technical manuals and access computer programs to identify supplies. Prepare, update, correct, and maintain files of the inventory database system to accurately reflect stock levels and maintain related transaction records.
