POSITION SUMMARY

The Traffic Operations Project Manager position will assist with traffic engineering tasks to maximize the transportation system’s efficiency and performance, as well as promoting safety. This Project Manager will assist the Transportation and Mobility Department with traffic engineering tasks including field inspections, investigations into traffic engineering concerns (i.e. signing, pavement marking, and signalization) raised by neighbors and City Commission, and reviewing plans related to transportation infrastructure.

This position is also responsible for traffic monitoring by utilizing innovative technology and data analytics resources (e.g. traffic cameras, BlueToad data, Waze, Google Traffic, City/FDOT/County construction activity reports, etc.) to address traffic congestion and to improve mobility throughout the City. Under the supervision of the Transportation Division Manager, this Project Manager will also collaborate with partner agencies on projects of regional significance and serve as a liaison between the County and State on all traffic engineering initiatives.

This job classification is included within the bargaining unit represented by Federation of Public Employees and therefore is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Federation of Public Employees.

This job classification is in Management Category III for benefits purposes, which includes six (6) additional Management Vacation Days per calendar year and a Vehicle Allowance of $250/month.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The position is generally sedentary. Employees sit most of the time, but may spend periods of time walking or standing for brief periods of time. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
