Position DescriptionManages a section in a department that has institutional oversight. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures for the section. Represents the section to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.
Major/Essential Functions- Develop and implement effective Risk Management strategies that strengthen operational safety and compliance.
- Create, manage, and track corrective action plans to address audit findings or compliance concerns, ensuring issues are resolved quickly and thoroughly.
- Proactively escalate ongoing compliance gaps to the Senior Director of Compliance and Risk Management (CRM) and Operations leadership, providing clear documentation and recommendations.
- Conduct routine audits of procedures, workflows, and documentation to identify areas for improvement and reduce organizational risk.
- Lead annual audits, including Release of Information, Refusal of Treatment, and regional privacy audits, ensuring accuracy and regulatory alignment.
- Support American Correctional Association (ACA) and PREA accreditation activities, helping the organization maintain strong compliance standing.
- Oversee all Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) audits-including ORA, Nursing QA, Sick Call, Compelled Medication, and Mental Health audits-and ensure all requirements are met.
- Coordinate audit preparation activities, review documentation for accuracy and quality, and ensure timely submission of high-quality corrective actions.
- Review all Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) and Detailed Written Plans to verify effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
- Manage and maintain departmental policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring they remain current and aligned with best practices.
- Assist with drafting, revising, and improving regional and unit policies and SOPs as organizational needs evolve.
- Coordinate compliance, privacy, and safety training and investigations, ensuring team members stay current on required processes and standards.
- Serve as a knowledgeable regional resource for Compliance and Risk Management (CRM) initiatives, supporting units with guidance and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support special projects, as assigned.
- Travel as needed, including overnight travel, to support audits, training, and compliance activities.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree plus four years of supervisory experience OR a combination of education and/or years of supervisory experience to equal a minimum of 8 years.
