Major Duties

Under general supervision, the Coordinator for Residential Student Success ensures comprehensive academic success initiatives, oversees tutoring and mentorship programs, coordinates inclusive residential communities, and collaborates extensively across campus to promote student retention. Provides critical support in planning impactful programming, assessing initiatives, and facilitating professional team development.

• Coordinates all residential life academic success and retention initiatives including, but not limited to the following: tutoring; the new student early-move in experience program; the SPOT study space; help seeking behavior campaign; and other new initiatives that may benefit students.
• Oversees tutoring services in Student Housing, including, but not limited to collaborating with Department of Mathematics and the Learning Resource Center to provide comprehensive student-centered tutoring.
• Works with the Associate Director on the vision, direction, and leadership for the Academic Mentor program which aims to impact retention.
• Coordinates all administrative aspects of the Residential Access Services program including scheduling, budget tracking, maintaining and purchasing access related equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field. Upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques interviewing and conflict resolution where such are job related, is preferred.
• Equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience; including one year in Student Housing is preferred.
• A Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
• Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Demonstrates understanding of academic support programs such as tutoring, mentoring, and first-year experience initiatives. Understands assessment methodologies and data tracking tools (e.g., EAB systems) to evaluate academic initiatives and student outcomes.
• Effectively coordinates complex academic success initiatives involving multiple campus partners (e.g., faculty, library, learning centers, student affairs). Skilled in program design, implementation, and evaluation, including training and supervising student staff in tutoring and academic support roles.
• Demonstrates proficiency in data collection, interpretation, and reporting to inform continuous improvement and decision-making.
• Ability to: design and execute engaging academic and community-building programs for residential students, including early move-in and recognition events; and foster partnerships across academic and student affairs divisions to promote student learning and retention.
• Ability to develop and manage budgets, align initiatives with institutional goals, and communicate outcomes through reports and publications.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

• The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver and more.
• Classification: SSP III / 3084/ Grade 1
• The anticipated HIRING RATE is $5540 per month. The salary range for this classification is: $5540 - $7893 per month.
• HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; may include evenings and weekends.
• This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
