The County of Monterey County Administrative Office is looking to hire an experienced and ethical Finance Manager II with excellent interpersonal and analytical skills. Overseeing and managing fiscal, billing, and grant accounting systems and the procedures to ensure the accuracy and quality of all financial operations within the department. This role also includes training and supervising professional, paraprofessional, technical, and/or clerical staff, as well as overseeing applications, budget administration, and compliance with state and federal laws affecting fiscal operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating the preparation and management of the budget and providing budgetary and fiscal guidance to the Department Head and management team.
County Administrative Office
The County Administrative Office (CAO) oversees the preparation, adoption, and administration of the County’s $2.3 billion budget and coordinates the activities of county departments to ensure the effective accomplishment of the Board’s directives and policies. The Administrative Office includes the divisions of Budget and Analysis, Contracts and Purchasing, Finance and Intergovernmental and Legislative Affairs.

The Eligible List established by this recruitment process may be used County-wide to fill current and future vacancies on a regular full-time, part-time, or temporary basis.

Any combination of training, education and/or experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities and required conditions of employment is qualifying. An example of a way these requirements might be acquired is:

Education: Equivalent to completion of a bachelor’s degree in Public or Business administration, Economics, Accounting, Finance or a related field with coursework in accounting, finance and business administration.

Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible experience performing a wide variety of duties related to fiscal resource management, including at least one year of significant administrative experience in public finance and accounting.
