DESCRIPTION

Join the Town of Truckee’s growing Office of Emergency Services as our new Emergency Services Coordinator and help build a safer, more resilient community! As part of a collaborative, risk-driven, and professional team, you’ll support the planning and coordination that protect Truckee from natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other emergencies. Working alongside the Emergency Services Manager, you’ll play a key role in reducing our community’s vulnerability to a wide range of hazards by strengthening its ability to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact and help shape the future of emergency services in Truckee.

This position works within the Police Department and requires a full police background check prior to employment.

DESCRIPTION
Under direction, plans, coordinates, and implements Town-wide emergency preparedness program activities and operations, including emergency preparedness, disaster and emergency response, and post-emergency functions; designs and implements emergency preparedness trainings, exercises, and drills; ensures program compliance with federal, state, local, and Town laws, priorities, mandates, objectives, and guidelines; coordinates program activities with Town departments, external agencies, and the public; and performs related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives direction from assigned supervisory and/or management personnel. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This journey-level classification is responsible for independently developing, monitoring, and performing professional duties in support of Town emergency preparedness and response activities. Positions at this level exercise judgment and initiative in their assigned tasks, receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.
