Pay Range: $37.66 - $48.95/hr. | $78,326 - $101,824 annual compensation

Sign on Incentive: $5,400 *** 50% paid after the completion of first pay period, 50% paid after the completion of 6 months of employment. *** Workdays & Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. Some evening/weekend work required. Hybrid work arrangements may be available, with up to two days per week remote, after completing the initial six-month probationary period.

Potential projects you will be a part of include any of the below: - Westport Parkway (from SH 170 to Park Vista Blvd) - Design and construction of a 5-lane undivided concrete roadway to complete the network gap.
- Risinger Rd (From Crowley Rd to Hemphill St) - Design and construction of a 4-lane divided concrete roadway to increase capacity of the existing 2-lane asphalt facility.
- East Berry Street (from Cobb Park to US287) - Design and reconstruction of the existing 4-lane undivided roadway to a 4-lane divided facility.
Generally, major roadway transportation projects include public utilities (water, sewer, storm drain), curbed concrete pavement, shared use paths, accessibility improvements, traffic signals or roundabouts, streetlights, roadway signage and pavement markings.

Minimum Qualifications: - A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field
- Four (4) years of professional civil engineering experience, two (2) of which must be related to transportation infrastructure projects such as roadway, intersection improvements, signals, streetlights, roundabouts and sidewalks
- Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. If licensed in another state, continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Professional Engineer within the State of Texas within six months of employment
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working in a municipal or government environment managing rather than designing projects. Risk management assessment strategist and community meeting experience
- Knowledge in the use of Bluebeam software for construction plan review and the latest version of the AASHTO Manual for Geometric Designs of Highways and Streets
- Experience with and basic understanding of project schedules, activity relationships, predecessors, successors, and familiarity with P18 (formerly P6) output Gantt charts.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Construction Management Agent certification
The Civil Engineer- Thoroughfares job responsibilities include: - Administration and monitoring of assigned projects including managing scope, budgets and schedules to ensure efficiency in project delivery
- Delivering complex engineering projects under the supervision of a Senior Professional Engineer
- Conducting design review meetings and public meetings communicating complicated technical information to a variety of audiences.
- Interagency coordination with Texas Department of Transportation, Tarrant County, Public Arts Council, North Central Texas Council of Governments, railroad and utility companies, and other municipalities
- Coordinate with other city departments in order to facilitate and expedite project activities
- Provide support to Senior Project Managers and Program Manager as needed.

Physical Demands Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing and balancing.
Light Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
