Salary Information:
Grade Level I - $61.732 - $84.019 Hourly

Grade Level II - $68.292 - $93.012 Hourly

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Performs licensed professional petroleum engineering work pertaining to oil field development, oil and gas production operations, waterflood management, development project evaluation, voidage/subsidence management, enhanced recovery methods, subsidence control, and idle well management; coordinates or participates in multi-organizational teams involving the key stakeholders that include the contract field operator and the State of California; participates in well/reservoir and development project reviews with the contractor Subsurface Engineering Team; conducts field life forecasts and City cash flow predictions from oil funds based on various oil price and operating condition scenarios; observes and reviews formation evaluation work such as well testing, coring, and logging operations; reviews and analyzes electric logs and makes well completion recommendations; prepares and presents formal written and oral presentations to City, Department, contractor, and regulatory personnel; ensures compliance with environmental and safety regulations; provides mentoring to new and less experienced staff members; may participate in and/or observe field work such as drilling, workover, and production operations; and performs other related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS TO FILE

Candidates must meet all of the following requirements:

A valid California Class C motor vehicle operator's license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Wilmington Oil Field experience; reservoir modeling experience; diverse petroleum engineering experience, including reservoir, well stimulation operations, drilling/completion, and mature waterflood.

Screening of applicants will be conducted on the basis of application and required supplemental application submitted. The selection procedure will be conducted using a non-competitive process, which means applications are evaluated solely on training, experience, education, or certification. All applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be placed on an eligible list. Applicants receiving Veteran’s credit will be placed on the eligible list first and then in order in which applications were filed. This is a continuous eligible list, which means eligible lists may be established periodically and may expire six months from their effective date. Applicants may apply only once during a four-month period.

Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications by September 24, 2025, will be placed on Test #01 established eligible list. Based on the number of applications accepted, the selection procedure may be changed. In the event a revision is necessary, the affected persons will be notified.
