ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Parks & Recreation Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Shooting Range Specialist (Shotgun Center) position. As a member of our team at the Clark County Shooting Complex, you will provide oversight of the Shotgun Center and assist in other areas of the complex as well as schedule programs, classes, and safety courses. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining work relationships with patrons and user groups. The Shooting Range Specialist will be a part of the Shooting Complex Team and report to the Recreation Program Supervisor.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources. Human Resources reserves the right to call only the most qualified applicants to the selection process.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience: Equivalent to an Associate’s Degree and a minimum of one (1) year experience in the management or operation of a gun range or experience in formal firearm management. Professional level experience that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C driver's license. Possess or be able to obtain certification in CPR and first aid within 6 months of employment.

Working Conditions: Able to work various hours, including evenings and weekends. May be required to work some holidays. Requires working outdoors with possibility of exposure to extreme weather conditions. May be subjected to frequent and prolonged excessive noise from gunfire.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician, and the periodic results of base line testing for lead levels and hearing impairment as requested by department.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Mobility to work in an outdoor facility year-round; vision to see all situations over a large facility complex; hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Strength and dexterity to lead and participate in physical activities and/or ability to drive a motor vehicle. Requires the strength to lift equipment or supplies weighing up to 30 lbs.
