A Sr. Accounting Specialist - Capital Delivery job is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works Department is in the Business Support Division. We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Accounting Specialist to provide high-level administrative support with a focus on complex fiscal tasks, budget analysis, and project coordination. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of government purchasing procedures, municipal accounting practices, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate is proactive, adaptable, and capable of handling shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, business administration, human resources or a related field.
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible administrative and fiscal management experience in support of capital projects.
- One (1) year in a supervisory or lead capacity.
Preferred Qualifications: - Accounts payable, purchasing, contract management, and budgeting experience.
- Finance monitoring, reconciling, capitalization, and close.
- PeopleSoft Financials, or similar ERP Financial suites (Lawson, JD Edwards, Oracle, SAP).
- Expertise in governmental purchasing procedures and municipal accounting practices.
- Construction accounting and processing construction payment application forms.
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
The Sr. Accounting Specialist - Capital Delivery job responsibilities include: - Support capital project and asset accounting as well as various subsystems to provide a high level of accuracy, exceptional reporting support to the project delivery team and timely processing of construction and engineering invoices.
- Partner with delivery teams to ensure appropriate funding and financial records are maintained.
- Prepare, analyze, and resolve complex financial issues.
- Work with the Planning & Data Analytics Department to prepare budget transfers and M&C's as necessary for funding changes, and processing of purchase orders as necessary.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, grant accountants, and other fiscal business support staff providing highly complex business management support as a member of Business Support Division.
- Participate with other Business Support team members concerning M&C preparation, grant related issues concerning contracts, support RFP and Bid processes, development and monitoring of Council communications, monitoring of expenditures, reconciliation, closeout, and capitalization.
- Participation in the development of the department and division work plan, applying lean principles to work procedures to improve business processes, identifying resource needs and developing solutions to address, and participating in committees and work groups as assigned.
