Position Duties

The Department of Transportation is currently seeking to fill multiple vacancies for the Electrician Supervisor position . The Department of Transportation is currently recruiting to fill a vacant Electrician Traffic Maintenance Supervisor and a Electrician Streetlight Supervisor position in the Infrastructure Maintenance Division. These positions are responsible for leading one of our three areas in the Electrical projects section. The C ity of San Jose has 9 69 signalized intersections and o ver 65,000 streetlights and the supporting infrastructure assets .

The ideal candidate is a self-starter wit h demonstrat ed ability in assimilating and implementing organizational development initiatives. A major priority for this position will be t o identi fy and implement continuous improvement processes and technological advances to meet a customer-focused, results-driven service delivery demand. In addition, the ideal candidate keeps current on new advances in signal technology and implements planned upgrades with a focus on standardization and cost effectiveness .

Minimum Qualifications

Educatio n: Completion of an approved apprenticeship program

Experience: 2 years of lead electrician experience as a journey level Electrician.

Acceptable Substitutions: Documented proof of completion of 8,500 hours of both course work and experience in all of the areas covered in the State of California Electrician Apprenticeship Standards may be substituted for completion of a recognized Electrician Apprenticeship program. These areas include residential wiring, commercial and industrial wiring, intercom and signals, controls, underground work, trouble shooting, finishing and fixture hanging, solid state controls, and stock and inventory. Completion of the State of California Electrician Certification exam will be accepted as proof of completion of 8,500 hours of electrical work experience.

Certifications/Licenses: Possession of a valid State of California driver’s license.
