Description
The Family Support Division is seeking a candidate to fill a Program Specialist as a Liaison for FSD/DMH located in Cole County based at 1706 E. Elm, Jefferson City, MO.
The FSD/DMH Liaison serves as a critical bridge between the Missouri Department of Mental Health and the Family Support Division. This role ensures effective communication, coordination, and collaboration between the two departments, and facilitates the delivery of services to some of Missouri's most at-risk citizens.
- Interdepartmental Bridge:
- Serve as a liaison between DMH and Family Support Division and work with units such as the Vendor Unit and the MRT Unit to help facilitate swift determinations when necessary
- Email Triage and Response:

- Manage the DMH.MedicaidEligibility@dmh.mo.gov email box in coordination with the DMH Medicaid Program Specialist. Serve as a FSD primary point of contact for inquiries from Department of Mental Health (DMH) agencies and facilities.
- Categorize, process, or delegate incoming requests in coordination with the DMH Program Specialist, ensuring all inquiries receive a response as quickly as possible.
- Respond to DMH agencies and providers regarding a range of topics, including:
- General Medicaid Eligibility Questions
- Review and explanation of case actions
- Clarification of FSD and Federal policy and regulations
- Medicaid case statuses
- Educational resources for providers and agencies
- Program Collaboration:
- Collaborates closely with the DMH Division of Developmental Disabilities (DD) Federal Programs Unit and the DMH Medicaid Unit to process MOCDD applications
- Work in partnership with the DMH Medicaid Unit to complete Pre-Discharge applications for individuals transitioning from State Mental Hospitals
- Program Development and Implementation :
- Assist in the planning and development of new programs and the modification of existing ones to meet the evolving needs of DMH and FSD.
- Research and analyze federal and state legislation to evaluate its impact on current and proposed programs.
- Develop procedures, policies, and instructions necessary for the operation and implementation of newly designed or modified programs.
- Keep FSD policy informed of issues arising that may need a change in process or protocol.
- Training and Outreach:
- Assist the DMH Program Specialist in providing training and guidance regarding Medicaid to DMH agencies, providers, advocacy groups, and consumers.
- Data Tracking and Reporting:
- Assist the DMH Program Specialist in maintaining accurate records of email inquiries, including volume, originating agency/provider, and the nature of the inquiry. Compile regular statistics as needed.
- On-Site Engagement:
- Be located at the Department of Mental Health Central Office in Jefferson City to facilitate communication and collaboration between the departments.
Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience and/or appropriate certification. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
