Position DescriptionThis position is responsible for assuring smooth operation of the clinic patient flow. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may have cash handling responsibilities.
Major/Essential Functions- Manage a multi-line phone system to answer and route calls.
- Welcome guests, provide information, and direct them to their destinations.
- Maintaining the front desk and surrounding areas, keeping them clean, organized, and presentable.
- Schedule meetings, appointments, and manage calendars for staff.
- Responds to general inquiries from physicians, team members, visitors and callers.
- Scan, organize, file, photocopy, and perform data entry.
- Handle payments, co-pays, and outstanding balances. Post and reconcile payments and deposits.
- Help patients with questions about their charges or insurance.
- Update patient information, including personal details, insurance information, and eligibility.
- Provide assistance and resolve patient issues, escalating when necessary.
- Protect patient information and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Required QualificationsA High School diploma or GED. 1-year Customer Service, office, or related experience. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.
