Job Location: - The office for this position is located at the Harry S. Truman State Office Building, 301 W High Street, Jefferson City, MO. 65101.

The Office of Geospatial Information (OGI) is seeking a GIS Specialist to support Missouri State Agencies. This position requires someone who can help us communicate the vision of expanding the use of geospatial technology across all departments. You’ll be part of a team of GIS professionals that collectively support Missouri’s 15 consolidated state agencies. You will develop exciting GIS applications in ArcGIS Online, perform spatial analyses in ArcGIS Pro, and develop field mapping applications in Survey123 and Field Maps.
- Authorization to work in the United States is a prerequisite of employment. The Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
- The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
This position is within the Office of Administration Information Technology Services Division, Office of Geospatial Information (OGI).

- Provide data management, technical, and geospatial recommendations for projects.
- Assist in developing data management policies and standards to store and manage GIS data for internal and external use.
- Help new and existing GIS users troubleshoot problems in ESRI applications such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and Survey123.
- Coordinate with GIS Manager and OGI Team to plan and complete GIS projects within state agencies.
- Assist with user licensing and ArcGIS Online content management.
- Ensure that metadata standards are upheld.
- Plan, design, and develop maps and ArcGIS Online web applications including Experience Builders, Dashboards, Storymaps, and Survey123 forms.
- Develop a working knowledge of ArcGIS Indoors and assist agencies as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or closely related field.
- Ability to convey technical information and concepts to non-technical staff and stakeholders.
- Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships.
- Ability to work within a diverse team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to be self-motivated and exercise good independent judgment.
- Ability and willingness to learn and adapt to changing GIS technologies and capabilities.
- Ability to create GIS models to automate data updates. Knowledge of Python encouraged but not required.
- Experience with or ability to learn ArcGIS Indoors.
- Ability to define a problem, analyze relevant information, and develop solutions and plans to solve the problem.
- Knowledge of data standards regarding sensitive datasets.
- Ability to work on tight deadlines and under high pressure situations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices, terminology, and current trends in GIS.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
- Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant. In addition to those identified in the previous level: Knowledge of GIS, data collection, and cloud technology concepts. Knowledge of GIS products and analytical tools. Knowledge of types and relationships of spatial and non-spatial data. Knowledge of project management.
