Description
South Adams County Water & Sanitation is dedicated to providing reliable, affordable, and sustainable water resources and services in order to protect public health, the environment, and quality of life. is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a Lead Water Operator position.
This position operates and maintains all plant equipment, processes and facilities associated with the District’s potable system and non-potable dual irrigation system including:
• Provides direction, guidance, and technical support to water operators
• Assists in planning, scheduling, and training of operations staff
• Serves as backup to the Operations and Maintenance Supervisor. Recognized as an alternate ORC when needed.
• Monitors, controls, and evaluates well pumping, treatment processes and distribution flow control
• Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots treatment equipment, processes, and systems including performing routine, preventative and emergency maintenance.
• Reports on treatment plant performance and advises on operational improvements with latitude for independent judgment.
• Leads by example in upholding safety standards, operational best practices, and regulatory compliance.
Qualified candidates are required to have:
• High School Diploma OR equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum five years of experience working as a treatment plant operator or related industry experience with advanced knowledge of water treatment processes
• Two years lead or supervisory experience preferred
• Colorado Water Operator B Certification required, A preferred
• Colorado Distribution Certifications preferred
• Valid, current Colorado Driver’s License
• Effective time management and communication skills
• Proficient computer skills including knowledge of MS Products, Outlook and SCADA technology
Must be able to respond to inquiries and emergencies as necessary. Must be able to cover shifts and work weekends as needed. The Klein water treatment facility is automated and currently staffed 8 hours per day.
Must be able to lift 60 lbs occasionally and work in a variety of facilities, temperatures and weather conditions.
Successful candidates will be required to complete a drug screen and background check prior to employment.
Salary Range $33.01 - $49.53/hr
