AQUATICS INSTRUCTOR

Department: Parks and Recreation

Pay Grade: Temporary Pay Table

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Personnel Status: Temporary Part-Time

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and teaching aquatics classes for the Parks and Recreation Department.This position reports to the Aquatics and Special Events Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience that would enable the employee to perform the job duties. Preferred possession of a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding or equivalent certification. Preferred possession of a current American Red Cross Basic Swim Instructor (BSI) or Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is light work, which requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, or walking. The employee uses tools or equipment requiring manual dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work is typically performed in a public indoor or outdoor aquatics environment. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, irritating chemicals, and occasionally cold, hot, or inclement weather. The employee may need to use small office equipment such as computers, multi-function copy machines, and telephone systems. The work may require use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.

This position is Temporary and not eligible for benefits.
