The Sheriff 's Office is comprised of the Administration, Corrections and Enforcement Operation Bureaus. The Sheriff’s Office delivers public safety to the residents of Monterey County by providing 24-hour uniformed patrol, investigations, custody services, court security, and law enforcement support.

The Corrections Operations Bureau is seeking an experienced Administrative Operations Manager to oversee the Sheriff’s Office fleet and projects related to jail facility infrastructure. The incumbent will identify projects impacting jail operations and collaborate with respective stakeholders to ensure said projects are completed; manage complex maintenance problems by identifying solutions and implementing changes as needed; manage the Sheriff’s fleet utilization and rotation of fleet for replacement through the vehicle replacement program; and supervise, train, and evaluate the work of assigned staff.

The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable leader with an understanding of correctional operations and has the administrative capabilities to manage a complex and challenging environment within a jail facility. The ideal candidate will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be detail oriented and capable of adhering to multiple deadlines. Work may involve coming in contact with incarcerated people.

The Eligible List established by this recruitment process may be used to fill current and future vacancies on a regular full-time, part-time, or temporary basis County-wide.

Any combination of experience, education and/or training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities and required conditions of employment listed is qualifying. A typical way to acquire the required knowledge and skills include:

Education

Completion of all coursework leading to graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree in business administration, public health administration, public administration, or a related field. A bachelor's degree is highly desirable.

AND

Experience

Four years or more of progressively responsible experience in public administration or business administration, in areas such as personnel, administrative analysis, contract administration, and facility management, and equivalent of two (2) years of full-time supervisory experience in a direct or lead role.
