ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Regional Flood Control District (RFCD) is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the RFCD Principal Civil Engineer position. As a member of our team, you will oversee the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of flood control projects, ensure regulatory compliance, and support infrastructure development. This role involves engineering/cost assessments, drainage study reviews, and coordination with staff and governmental agencies to implement the capital improvement program and Master Plan Updates. Ideal candidates will have expertise in hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, drainage design, and floodplain management.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

Applicants for this role must hold a professional engineer registration in the State of Nevada. If you are currently registered in another state, acquiring Nevada registration is mandatory within one (1) year from the date of hire. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering AND five (5) years of full-time professional level flood control engineering, design and project management experience. Equivalent combinations of formal education and appropriate related experience may be considered.

All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application. Working Conditions: Work with exposure to potential hazards at various construction sites. May be subject to emergency or off-shift call out, depending upon the department to which assigned.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of appointment. Must possess valid registration as a professional engineer (P.E.) in the State of Nevada. If registered in another state, must obtain Nevada registration within one (1) year of the date of hire.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
