Description
Job Summary Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of administrative and clerical responsibilities in support of the Bryan Animal Center. Essential Job Functions
Acts as the first point of contact as customers enter the facility, courteously responding to questions.
Assisting with animal surrenders, adoptions, and/or the redemption of animals in accordance with animal control laws and departmental procedures.
Issues animal licenses and maintains proper documentation.
Performs general administrative/clerical functions such as responding to the main phone lines, charging applicable fees and issuing receipts, composing or completing a variety of documents (paperwork, forms, correspondence, reports, etc.), filing, copying, scanning, processing mail, ordering supplies, and performing other general office related responsibilities as assigned.
Properly records inquiries made by the public regarding lost and found animals as well as other related activities.
Takes digital pictures of animals up for adoption and keeps the Petfinders.com website updated. Performs regular updating of the department website.
Assists with the care of animals and keeping the facility clean and orderly.
Processes departmental invoices and purchase requisitions and ensures proper documentation is provided.
Performs records management for the department by organizing and maintaining paper and electronic records and files, scanning documents into City’s imaging system (Laserfiche), and ensuring compliance with records retention guidelines.
Maintains a high level of understanding of interdepartmental processes to assist in facilitating appropriate communication and referral of tasks.
Troubleshoots office equipment issues and schedules maintenance with the IT Department or the appropriate equipment vendor, as needed.
Assists with special projects and other related duties, as assigned.
Responds regularly and promptly to work.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
High School Diploma or GED .
Must possess at least two (2) years of directly related office experience performing administrative, clerical, financial, or similar office support responsibilities in a professional office environment.
Must be familiar and comfortable working with various breeds of dogs, cats, and other animals with various temperaments.
Preferred:
Vocational training or college-level coursework in business or a similar field of study.
Equivalent combinations of education, experience, certification and training may be considered.
Licenses, Certifications & Special Requirements
Must possess fluent verbal and written bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
Texas Class C driver’s license with a good driving record as measured by the City’s evaluation system.
Salary:
$17.00/hour (or higher depending on qualifications)
