THE POSITION: The pharmacy clinical coordinator is responsible for maximizing the optimal delivery of pharmacy services related to the care of patients at Ventura County Medical Center and Santa Paula Hospital. Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy, a full-time clinical coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining clinical pharmacy programs across the hospital with interdisciplinary programs and teams. They will champion variations of reduction efforts, provide oversight and guidance on medication use, quality assurance and compliance with emphasis on patient safety.
The clinical coordinator is responsible for development, implementation, and maintenance of clinical pharmacy services, advance and manage the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, provides staff/pharmacy student education and training, coordinate medication use evaluation (MUE), and is an active member of a multidisciplinary group through committee involvement for creation of clinical practice guidelines and hospital policies. Promote safe medication usage through research, strategic planning, staff development, and exemplary leadership.
PAYROLL TITLE: Pharmacist - Specialty Care

EDUCATIONAL/BILINGUAL INCENTIVE: Incumbents may be eligible for an educational incentive of 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5% based on completion of an Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree that is not required for the classification. Incumbents may also be eligible for bilingual incentive depending upon operational need and certification of skill.

The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future Regular, (including Temporary and Fixed-term), Intermittent, and Extra Help vacancies for this and similar vacancies within the Ventura County Health Care Agency. There is currently one (1) Regular, Full-Time vacancy within the Health Care Agency - Ventura County Medical Center and/or Santa Paula Hospital.

Pharmacist - Specialty Care is represented by the Service Employee International Union (SEIU) and is eligible for overtime compensation.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of: prescription filling activities; unit dose systems; parenteral nutrition dosing and management; sterile and non-sterile compounding; pharmacology and pathophysiology; professional standards and practices; Federal, State Board of Pharmacy, The Joint Commission and Department of Public Health laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to patient care; sterile compounding of non-hazardous and hazardous medication.

Skilled in: Data analysis including proficient use of Microsoft Office programs; written and verbal communication. Working ability to: operate a computer; perform pharmaceutical mathematical calculations; research, read, interpret medical and pharmacy literature; communicate clearly and effectively; review and verify medication orders accurately and timely through electronic health record; use aseptic technique for non-sterile and sterile compounding of non-hazardous and hazardous medications; supervise pharmacy technicians; work cooperatively with other staff and health care providers; participate in didactic and/or clerkship teaching; and conduct scholarly writing and research; and willing and able to lift up to 25 lbs.
