An Assistant IT Solutions Director position is available with the City of Fort Worth IT Solutions' Infrastructure / Operations / Public Safety Division. This position will oversee the newly created public safety division along with the backend computing server/storage environment and the full network connectivity landscape. In addition, this position is responsible for Operations and Helpdesk who provide end-user support.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, business administration or a closely related field
- Six (6) years of responsible experience in IT management, including two (2) years of administrative and supervisory experience
- Valid Driver's License
- Candidate selected for hire must pass a CJIS background check (see below for details)
Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of IT infrastructure management including project management; some software development and support; technology, physical and cyber security; and regulatory compliance activities.
- Demonstrate interchangeable skills that allow professional support in operational divisions that provide for robust system support and comprehensive business support; data center operations; server and virtualization; data network communications; digital and analog voice communications.
- Possess knowledge of technology procurement and vendor management.
The Assistant IT Solutions Director's job responsibilities include: - Assists in developing, communicating, and implementing technology solutions while serving as a relationship building agent with other departments.
- Directs the activities of the division/department, which includes planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating programs, projects, processes, procedures, systems, standards and/or service offerings; ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards.
- Supervises staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
- Assists in directing and managing the development and implementation of departmental goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for each assigned service and/or operational area; and oversees the development and implementation of policies and plans related to departmental services and operations.
- Assists in assessing and monitoring workload, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting for improvement; and directs and implements changes.
- Participate in the development and monitoring of divisional budgets. Performs research and creates reports specific to departmental programmatic operations; analyzes efficiency, and compliance for auditing, including city of Fort Worth rules and regulations, response times, cost recovery and other issues; and creates or reviews relevant Mayor and Council Communications and Informal Reports.
- Establishes vision, strategic goals, business objectives and tactical plans.
- Demonstrates flexibility to focus at the necessary level and schedule capacity needed to support a 7x24x365 environment.
Working Conditions Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.
Physical Demand Sedentary Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) Background Check Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
