ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County District Attorney’s Office invites you to apply for the position of Family Support Specialist I/II. The Family Support Specialist I/II is responsible for performing a variety of duties involved in establishing and enforcing child support obligations, locating absent parents and establishing paternity. This position reports to a Family Support Supervisor within the District Attorney Family Support Division.

Family Support Specialist I: $20.67 - $32.01 Hourly
Family Support Specialist II: $22.34 - $34.59 Hourly


The Family Support Specialist I is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Family Support Specialist II.
This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

Human Resources reserves the right to call only the most qualified applicants to the selection process.
Some positions may be used to fill term Limited-Permanent positions. The selected candidates will be hired for a special project or duties of a limited duration and be required to sign a term of employment letter specifying condition and exact dates of employment. The successful selected candidates will be eligible for benefits during the duration of employment.

Some positions may be Grant Funded. Grant Funded positions are subject to continuation based on availability of grant funds and the employee will be terminated without right of appeal when such funds are no longer available.

Employment is contingent upon the results of a background investigation, which may include both a pre-and post-offer background check for positions within the District Attorney’s Office.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

Family Support Specialist I - Equivalent to graduation from high school AND three (3) years of full-time experience in office or administrative support involving significant public contact. Professional level experience and/or education that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Family Support Specialist II - In addition to the above: One (1) year of full-time experience establishing, processing and/or enforcing family support obligations.

Working Conditions: Work in potentially violent, traumatic or highly charged emotional environments.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, strength to lift boxes weighing to 30 pounds, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
