Job Summary: Under the general direction and guidance of the Airport Operations and Maintenance Manager, the Operations Maintenance Technician is responsible for working collaboratively with the operations team in ensuring the airport is safe for aircraft operations. The work performed includes but is not limited to operations, maintenance, alteration, repair and construction of airport buildings, airfields, and equipment. The Operations Maintenance Technician will work to promote a positive work environment through adhering to high ethical standards, promoting the airport norms and values, policies, procedures, cooperation, teamwork, and leading by example.
The duties of our Airport Operations Maintenance Technician include maintaining the operational safety and excellence of the Northern Colorado Regional Airport 24 hours per day; 365 days per year. This entails maintaining the airfield facilities and operational areas to the highest levels including the achievement of airport safety in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Code of Federal Regulations Title 14 Part 139 and airport security in accordance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Regulations Title 49 Part 1542.
Requires weekend availability and twenty-four (24) hour on-call response when requested to events such as aircraft emergencies, special events, and snow removal during winter months, including weekends and holidays.
The salary range for this position is
$25.05- $33.72 per hour with a hiring range of
$25.05 - $29.43, depending on qualifications and experience.

Northern Colorado Regional Airport is a part 139 certificated airport and is the 5 th busiest airport in Colorado with exciting growth opportunities in its future. The airport is investing heavily in its infrastructure to include a new terminal building and a runway widening project slated for 2026 with the intent of drawing scheduled commercial service. Essential Functions: - Ensure airport compliance with FAA regulations and advisory documents that govern airport safety
- Perform airfield inspections to meet or exceed the requirements of FAA advisory circulars.
- Facilitate and perform maintenance or repair of buildings and airfield facilities.
- Respond to complaints from airport tenants and businesses as well as off-air noise complaints.
- Operate two-way radios; facilitate 24-hour non-emergency communications
- Take part in winter operations to include operating heavy and light equipment in coordination of the operations manager and operations lead.
- Monitor airport weather conditions and i ssues Notices to Air Missions ( NOTAMS) as needed.
- Conducts and assists in a team environment with the repair and maintenance of airfield pavements, airfield lighting, equipment, hangars, buildings, and grounds.
- Requires twenty-four (24) hour on-call response to events such as aircraft emergencies, special events, and snow removal during winter months, including weekends and holidays.
- Conducts job duties safely within an airport environment where aircraft operations occur.
- Maintains the airfield and facilities in compliance with the Airport Certification Manual and all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Upon completion of the required training, the Airport Security Coordinator assists in maintaining compliance with security regulations and the Airport Security Plan.
- Assists with all on-airport construction activity to comply with FAA, State, Federal and local rules, regulations, and codes.
Other Job Functions: - At the direction of the Supervisor issues inspection work orders, completes work orders, issues safety notices to airmen (NOTAMS).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education: - Required: 2 Year/associate's degree in aviation or related field.
- Preferred: 4 Year/bachelor's degree in aviation or related field.
Experience: - Required: 2 Years experience working in airport operations.
Certifications: - Must possess a valid driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally including use of aviation radio communications.
- Must have the ability to perform strenuous physical work indoors and outdoors and troubleshoot a variety of conditions as they relate to repair and maintenance.
- Must have proficient computer skills and knowledge using Microsoft and Windows Office platforms and Apple iPad.
- Ability to use wildlife pyrotechnic devices.
- Work independently in the absence of supervision.
- Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of department goals.
- Keep records and prepare reports.
- Understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, representatives of other agencies, and the general public.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: - Frequent: Minimal physical effort typically found in clerical work. Primarily sedentary, may occasionally lift and carry light objects. Walking and/or standing as needed and minimal
- Occasional: Light to moderate physical effort that includes frequent standing or walking or maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks. Frequently works with light objects and light hand tools
- Occasional: Moderate to considerable physical effort that includes working from ladders in awkward positions. Frequent use of light or medium weight objects (e.g., 25-50 lbs) and use of medium weight tools
- Occasional: Strenuous to extreme physical effort that includes frequent use of heavy objects (e.g., 50+ pounds) and may also use heavy tools or require strenuous application in awkward positions.
Working Environment: - Occasional: Exposure to hazards that are predictable or well protected against.
Additional Working Demands / Conditions: - Performs duties in several different locations at the airport, which includes traveling between buildings, airport perimeter and on the airport’s runways and taxiways. Required to drive motorized vehicles, climb ladders, push, pull, stoop, kneel and crawl to perform the essential functions of the job.
