Description
SummaryMinimum starting salary is $26.00 hourly, depending on qualifications The City of Waco Seeks A detail-oriented professional responsible for optimizing solid waste collection routes to improve operational efficiency and adapt to evolving service changes.
Minimum Qualifications Required: - Driver's License
- Bachelor's Degree GIS, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2 years route planning, logistics, waste collection, or data analysis; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred: - Experience with routing software (e.g., Routeware, ArcGIS, or similar tools)
Position Overview: The Solid Waste Routing Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and optimizing collection routes to improve efficiency and accommodate daily operational changes. This position ensures routing systems remain accurate, identifies opportunities for improvement, and supports the Solid Waste Superintendent on operational enhancement projects.
Essential Functions - Maintains and updates solid waste collection routes to reflect operational changes.
- Analyzes route data to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
- Utilizes routing software and GIS tools to optimize collection routes.
- Works closely with drivers and supervisors to gather feedback on route performance.
- Develops and maintains route documentation, including maps, schedules, and service records.
- Identifies and implements process improvements to streamline operations.
- Regularly evaluates route performance metrics and operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, or opportunities for enhancement.
- Prepares and presents data-driven recommendations to supervisors and department leadership for route or procedural improvements.
- Assists with special projects focused on operational enhancements.
- Coordinates with IT and GIS staff to integrate data-driven solutions into routing.
- Tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) related to collection efficiency and missed pickups.
- Provides training and support for staff on routing software, mobile tools, and best practices.
