Description
DescriptionTHIS POSTING MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME ONCE A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED.The Desktop Support Technician is part of the Help Desk team and provides technical assistance, support, and maintenance for the County's computers, related computer equipment, telephones, and audio/video equipment to deliver a high level of availability and reliability. The Desktop Support Technician is required to provide excellent customer service, resolve problems in a timely manner, communicate effectively, and be a positive contributor to the Denton County Technology Services team.
Examples of Duties- Provides end-user support and customer service as the initial point of contact on the IT Help Desk.
- Responds to service requests in a proactive and timely manner.
- Maintains user identity and access rights for various systems, including network, access control, etc.
- Installs, tests, and troubleshoots computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment for various County computer systems.
- Troubleshoots and installs telephone equipment.
- Troubleshoots audio / visual systems.
- Provides mobile device support.
- Maintains hardware inventory and portions of Active Directory.
- Follows all county security and privacy policies and best practices to protect county information and assets within his/her control.
- Maintains documents and files related to work completed.
- Creates and generates reports as needed.
- Confers with department heads and elected officials to schedule computer installation and maintenance.
- Regular and punctual attendance is required.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED and a minimum three years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Position may require various computer or technical-related certifications.
- Possession of a valid driver's license required. Must obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of employment.
- Must not have any Class B misdemeanor or higher convictions or deferred adjudications.

Family Medical Leave:Denton Countyemployees who have been employed for one year and who have worked 1250 hours in the preceding year may be eligible for up to twelve weeks of FMLA leave.
The FMLA provides for up to 12 weeks of job-protected leave
- for the birth, adoption, or placement of a child for foster care
- to care for a child, spouse, or parent with a serious health condition
- for an employee with a serious health condition
Employees who will be away from work for one of these reasons should contact Human Resources for additional information. When possible, an employee should provide at least 30 days advance notice. In the case of an emergency, notification should be made as soon as possible.
