The City of Irvine invites you to explore a rewarding opportunity as the Great Park Maintenance Superintendent. As the steward of one of Southern California’s premier public spaces—the 1,300-acre Great Park—you will lead strategic planning, maintenance operations, and improvement initiatives to ensure our world-class amenities continue to serve residents and visitors at the highest standard.

This position oversees facilities and landscape maintenance functions at the Great Park, ensuring alignment with the City’s mission, safety standards, and long-range strategic goals. You will work in partnership with other departments, contractors, and community stakeholders to manage a broad range of park features including event venues, athletic fields, trails, cultural and recreational spaces, and open parkland.

This recruitment will establish an eligibility list for the Facilities Maintenance Superintendent classification, including the working title of "Great Park Maintenance Superintendent", which will expire on June 4, 2026.

The Public Works & Sustainability Department combines the strengths of Administration & Planning, Park Development, Transportation Planning & Mobility, Infrastructure Maintenance & Operations, Capital Project Delivery, and Sustainability & Environmental Initiatives to create a unified approach to infrastructure management and sustainability. City assets include streetscapes, open space, City parks (community and neighborhood), athletic fields, bike trails, roadways, traffic signals, and more. The Capital Improvement Program has an annual delivery of $100 million in capital projects, in addition to the delivery of the globally relevant Great Park. With over 200 dedicated staff across five divisions, we prioritize efficiency, sustainability, and community engagement in all our endeavors. Together, we strive to build and maintain infrastructure that meets the needs of our community while ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.

The Process
The selection process will include an examination and a background investigation prior to appointment. This recruitment may establish an eligibility list to fill future positions in similar and/or lower classifications within the organization.
