Job Location:

While it is preferable the position is located at the Central Missouri Regional Office in Columbia, consideration is open statewide to ensure the best candidate for the position.

Role Description:

This professional position performs an integral function for the Division of Developmental Disabilities. An Intake Specialist is responsible for determining if an applicant meets eligibility criteria to be served through the Division.

What you’ll do:

• Receive referrals, initiate applications, and determine Division eligibility;
• Request and review records from collateral sources;
• Interpret results from standardized assessment and evaluations;
• Engage with individuals and their families to share/collect information;
• Gather information utilizing effective interview methods;
• Coordinate and communicate with various professionals and persons involved with the individual’s eligibility determination;
• Schedule and/or reschedule Missouri Adaptive Ability Scale (MAAS) assessments;
• Initiate referrals to appropriate Division services, programs, and community resources;
• Issue formal correspondence of determination;
• Prepare materials and evidence for adverse action hearings;
• Input eligibility data into multiple sources, systems, and platforms;
• Complete all responsibilities following applicable Federal/State/Department/Division regulations, statutes, waiver assurances, directives, and policies;
• Attend trainings, meetings, and other events virtually and/or in-person, as requested (minimal State-wide travel necessary)

Typical Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree

• Valid MO Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a human services field;

• Experience administering and/or reviewing standardized assessments, performing comprehensive review of records, determining programmatic eligibility, conducting structured interviews, and experience with Medicaid-funded Home and Community Based Services, or other public assistance benefits;

• Experience working and/or supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities;

• Knowledge of the Division’s eligibility regulations, statutes, waiver assurances, directives, and policies.

This role is responsible for completion of administrative support duties and will assist Intake Specialist’s with duties as assigned as part of the team that determines if an applicant meets eligibility criteria to be served through the Division.
