ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Department of Real Property Management is seeking a qualified candidate to apply for Swimming Pool Technician. The ideal candidate will evaluate swimming pool conditions and ensure conformity to stay within compliance of the Southern Nevada Health District. This position verifies chemical balances and minimal circulation flow, monitors and inspects all swimming pool venues for safety and/or repair, and works closely with vendor representatives. The candidate will monitor inventory, perform minor masonry work, plumbing repairs and will coordinate with Parks and Recreation Aquatics staff on maintenance and scheduled closures.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school AND two (2) years of full-time experience in installing and maintaining piping systems, valves and various plumbing equipment. Experience in maintaining swimming pool equipment is desirable.

Working Conditions: Work with exposure to hazardous chemicals found in the pool treatment process. Wear self-contained breathing equipment. Work out of doors in various weather conditions.

Licensing and Certification: Possession of a valid Nevada Class C driver's license. Requires certification as a Qualified Pool Operator through the Southern Nevada Health District.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician. A respirator test is part of the exam.

Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment examination and random drug testing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Strength and mobility to work in a typical maintenance setting, including operating hand and power tools; mobility to drive a motor vehicle to various pool sites; stamina to perform sustained physical labor, including standing, walking, climbing and working in confined or awkward spaces; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over a radio or telephone.
