THE AGENCY: The Health Care Agency is a comprehensive healthcare system serving our diverse community through the Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC), Santa Paula Hospital, 24 primary care clinics, 11 specialty care clinics, Ambulatory Care, the Public Health Department, and the Behavioral Health Department. We aim to provide comprehensive, cost-effective, accessible, and quality health care, especially those facing barriers.

THE POSITION: Under general supervision, the Data Entry Operator III classifies, codes, and enters data in the computer for the billing department for the hospitals and clinics. They are responsible for making adjustments and corrections to reports, assisting with mail sorting and distribution, contributing to the smooth operation of the department. They may also operate peripheral equipment and perform other related duties as required. Data Entry Operator III is the journey level classification in this job series.

We're seeking a dependable individual who is a proactive team player with a keen eye for detail, strong time management skills, and a solid understanding of basic computer operations, general clerical procedures and modern office practices.

The ideal candidate has skills in accurately and efficiently keying data from a variety of sources , along with the ability to identify and correct errors to ensure data integrity. They are flexible and adaptable, capable of managing interruptions and shifting priorities while maintaining focus and accuracy.

The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future Regular (including Temporary and Fixed-term), Intermittent, and Extra-help vacancies.There is currently one (1) Regular, Full-time vacancy.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:

Data Entry Operator III: At least two (2) years of experience evaluating and entering data using word processing equipment and demonstrated ability to enter data with speed, accuracy, and minimum supervision.

SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE - qualifying: All applicants are required to complete and submit the questionnaire for this examination at the time of filing. The supplemental questionnaire may be used throughout the examination process to assist in determining each applicant's qualifications and acceptability for the position. APPLICATION EVALUATION - qualifying: All applications will be reviewed to determine whether or not the stated requirements are met. Those individuals meeting the stated requirements will be invited to continue to the next step in the screening and selection process.

WRITTEN EXAMINATION - 100%: An un-proctored, internet-based job-related written exam will be conducted to evaluate participating candidates' knowledge of general office practices & procedures, supervision, computer terminology, and coding for successful performance on the job. Candidates must earn a score of seventy percent (70%) or higher to qualify for placement on the eligible list.

Applicants successfully completing the examination process may be placed on an eligible list for a period of one (1) year.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION: A thorough pre-employment, post offer background investigation which may include inquiry into past employment, education, criminal background information and driving record may be required for this position.
