- Plan, coordinate and supervise personnel activities and administer the rehabilitation services including, but not limited to, case assignment, case processing, training and quality in district office.
- Review current status of cases, recommend additional steps to be taken in individual cases and suggest improvements in methods to counselors.
- Continuously and effectively interpret the Vocational Rehabilitation program to other agencies and public at the district level.
- Through frequent caseload reviews and staff conferences evaluate the effectiveness of services.
- Provide the Regional Manager, Coordinators with appropriate reports concerning the status of field operations in the district.
- Plan new assignments when indicated and makes recommendations for changes to the Regional Manager.
- Participate in the recruitment, selection, assignment and training of personnel within the district.
- Perform related work as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Knowledge and understanding of the basic principles for the organization of a district Vocational Rehabilitation Program and of the types of standards of service required to meet the needs of persons with disabilities.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of human behavior as related to personal, social and vocational adjustment.
- Considerable knowledge of occupations in terms of skills required, physical demands, training requirements and work conditions.
- Knowledge of principles of administration and supervision, and the ability to apply such knowledge.
- Thorough knowledge of counseling and guidance techniques.
- Considerable knowledge of pertinent social legislation, such as state and federal laws related to Vocational Rehabilitation, Division of Family Services, Department of Health, and Department of Mental Health, etc.
- Specific knowledge of medical and psychological aspects of disabilities.
- Thorough knowledge of caseload management.
- Considerable knowledge of community agencies, facilities and services.
- Ability to evaluate the soundness of rehabilitation plans.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and written.
- Travel is required.
Minimum Experience and Training: - Master's degree from an accredited college/university in rehabilitation counseling, guidance and counseling, clinical psychology, clinical social work with experience in vocational counseling. Minimum educational requirements are defined by the Code of Federal Regulations, 361.18(C)(II)(A(1).
- 2 years of supervisory experience required
