This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, and will be located at Graham Cave State Park , 217 Highway TT, Danville, MO . This position typically works Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break. Shifts may vary occasionally with the time of year and to meet the needs of the facility. This position will require working regularly rotating weekends, and working nights, holidays, and special events as necessary. (On-site Housing is not currently available.)

• This position is responsible for the administrative and supervisory oversight of Graham Cave State Park and the 64‑mile mideast section of Katy Trail State Park ; including oversight of daily operations of campground, day use areas, park office, budgeting, directing maintenance priorities, meeting operational standards, staff work schedules, and direct supervision.
• Must be able to exercise a high degree of initiate and independent judgement in planning and implementing the work.
• Supervise permanent, seasonal, temporary, and volunteer employees at Graham Cave State Park and Katy Trail State Park in the protection, maintenance, operation, and repair of state parks/historic sites, natural and cultural resources, facilities, equipment, and systems. Skill in managing and collaborating with staff.
• Greet the public and discuss the facility’s resources, rules, and regulations relating to the state park and historic site system.
• Develop, schedule, and participate in special events, interpretive programs, and informational public meetings.
• E stablish a functional, proactive, working relationship with the media, local governments, local constituency groups and other stake holders.
• R esearch, collect, organize, draft data for fiscal, statistical, and operational reports.
• Assist in implementing state park or historic site development projects, which include expansions, new construction, renovations, and maintenance.
• Respond to medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, personal injuries, disturbances, natural disasters, and any other significant events within the park.
• Position must be available to work on weekends and evenings, in order to respond to incidents and to visitors’ needs at the park (which is open on weekends year round).

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university can include: Park Management, Parks and Recreation, Wildlife Management, Forestry, Botany, Biology, Natural Sciences, Business of Public Administration or related field.
• AND five or more years of management, supervision and participation in interpretation, preservation, protection, maintenance and enhancement of state parks and historic sites . (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience)
• Required to work at least two weekends per month (Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun) during the “On-Season” which is April 16 - October 31.
• Must be able to work well with little direct supervision.
• Must be able to work with outside agencies and landowners regarding issues related to State Parks.
• Must be able to speak and give presentations at public meetings and events.
• Ability to operate a vehicle and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license.
• Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, evenings, and split shifts.
• Available to participate in special events, meetings, workshops and seminars requiring overnight stays.
• Ability to walk long distances on uneven terrain in all kinds of weather and environmental conditions and have the ability to lift 25 pounds.
• Proficient with current technology and ability to use computer programs to manage and present reports, proposals and professional communications with both team members and the public.

Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.

Salary:

$58,416-$58,815 per Year
