Job Location: This position will be located in Jefferson City at the Jefferson State Office Building, 205 S. Jefferson, Jefferson City, MO 65109

This position is eligible for remote/hybrid work so long as it is determined to be a benefit to the Veterans Commission

Salary: $75,239.00

Examples of Work

• Act as a clearinghouse/knowledge base for Veteran suicide prevention efforts/programs in Missouri
• Coordinate and publish best practices for Veteran suicide prevention activities
• Develop policies and procedures and monitor Veteran suicide prevention program performance measures
• Maintain current state Veteran suicide statistics
• Establish and maintain partnerships with suicide prevention organizations
• Use communication strategies and social marketing as a part of a comprehensive suicide prevention program
• Research and identify federal, state or community programs to assist Veterans and their families to prevent suicide
• Represent the Missouri Veterans Commission at various events and on taskforces, committees and other working groups.
• Develop a comprehensive approach to Veterans service delivery
• Solicit stakeholder input through series of town hall and interactive online surveys to drive change in Missouri's Veteran suicide prevention service delivery
• Respond to questions from Veterans, their families, legislators, community partners, and others in regard to efforts to prevent Veteran suicide

Qualifications

Must demonstrate the following which may be obtained through work experience as a public health professional or through completion of a bachelor’s degree in public health or closely related program:

• Extensive knowledge of the Missouri Veterans Commission programs
• Extensive knowledge of Commander John Scott Hannon Veterans Mental Health Care Improvement Act of 2019 and any regulations related thereto
• Extensive knowledge of state and federal programs to encourage Veteran mental health and suicide prevention
• Strong understanding of public outreach procedures
• Extensive strategic planning and development skills
• Extensive meeting planning and meeting management skills

AND

• Honorable discharge from military forces of the United States
• Ability to travel including nights, weekends, and overnight
