The Newport Beach Public Library Services Department seeks a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join the team as a Librarian III. The selected individual will support Adult Services with an emphasis on adult reference service, collection development, technology, and outreach.
SELECTION COMPONENTS: - Application Evaluation: Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis with the first review date of June 6, 2024 . Candidates are required to submit a resume in order for the application package to be considered complete.
- Virtual Interview: Tentatively scheduled for June 27, 2024 . Passing applicants will be placed on an eligibility list that may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
SCHEDULE: - This position may work a 5/40 or 9/80 schedule.
CAREER PATH: - The career path for this position includes: Library Services Manager and Library Services Director.
RETIREMENT: The City offers an excellent benefit package and membership in the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). The retirement formula is based on appointment date and membership status with CalPERS and the employee is required to contribute 11.5% of pay toward the retirement benefit.

Experience & Education and License/CertificateA combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Four years of increasingly responsible professional library experience, including two years of supervisory responsibility.
Education: Possession of a Master's degree in Library Service from an American Library Association accredited college or university.
License/Certificate : Due to the performance of some field duties which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.

$6,728.11 - $9,938.67 Monthly
