University Library Temporary Librarian Pool

The Department: Cal Poly Humboldt Library offers opportunities to be creative in instruction and programming, and encourages librarians to develop projects related to their individual goals. Area of Specialization: We seek collaborative and innovative instruction librarians to focus on the development and delivery of user-centered library services to the students, faculty and staff. As a member of the Library’s Information & Research Services team, the successful candidate will collaborate on instruction and research services programs, assessment of programs, and collection development activities. We invite applications for the temporary, full-time, 12-month pool of Teaching & Learning Librarian positions. Temporary 10-month and 12-month positions carry faculty rank.

Please note: Part-time Librarian positions are limited and may only occur in the event of emergency staffing needs.

Teaching & Learning Librarian Pool

Cal Poly Humboldt Library seeks forward-thinking, service and team oriented Teaching and Learning Librarian interested in instruction and programming for undergraduate student success. Candidates applying for Temporary Faculty positions at Humboldt are maintained in a pool of eligible candidates for ongoing needs that may arise.

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree: An earned Master’s degree in library science or an equivalent program is required; or must graduate with MLS/MLIS within 6 months of application and have previous academic library work experience.

Preferred: Demonstrated experience with library instruction to undergraduate students; demonstrated experience providing reference services; demonstrated experience working with a diverse population; and excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

First Review Date: Applications received by April 1st annually are given first consideration. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis of need. Applications must be in the current academic year in order to be considered. Please apply annually.

Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience.

The salary schedule information for the Librarian - 12 Month Classification is available based on the following ranges:

Assistant Librarian $6,228 - $7,658

Senior Assistant Librarian $7,127 - $15,211

Associate Librarian $7,830 - $16,679

Appointees are typically placed at the beginning of the range .
