SALARY RANGE: $51,947 - $61,066 (Estimated Annual Salary)

  • On a case-by-case basis, Master Detention Deputy positions may be available for applicants with prior corrections, law enforcement, military experience, or advanced education.
  • Master Detention Deputy hiring salary - $61,489.61 to $71,611.54.

To get started, you'll need to be:

  • At least 18 years old and a U.S. Citizen
  • A high school graduate or have a GED; Qualified applicants with a college degree may receive enhanced compensation.
  • A South Carolina licensed driver; or the ability to obtain a South Carolina driver's license
  • Honorably discharged from the military (if applicable).
  • Have no pending cases or criminal felony convictions (misdemeanors may require expungement).
  • No THC or Marijuana use within 365 days; some drugs are automatic disqualifiers.
  • No student loans in default status.
  • Must pass background checks
  • Must successfully complete the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy's Basic Detention course of instruction within the first year of employment.
