$6,381 - $7,756 per month- depending upon experience

THE LIBRARY AND RECREATIONDEPARTMENT is dedicated to enriching the lives o San Rafael residents through discovery, learning, and play through programs and services that provide high community value. The Recreation Division operates with a $4.93 million budget and 18 FTE. Key facilities include the Albert J. Boro Community Center, Pickleweed Community Park, Terra Linda Pool and Terra Linda Community Center.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator to join our team at the Terra Linda Community Center/Pool. You will plan, coordinate and supervise recreation programs, events and activities, including planning, scheduling and implementing recreational activities; recruit, coordinate and supervise the activities of regular, temporary and volunteer staff; prepare program budgets and monitor expenditures; administer the rental, scheduling, use and maintenance of major recreation facilities. You will exercise judgement and initiative in the management of the Terra Linda Community Center/Pool.

Ideal Candidate for the Program Coordinator is a positive, organized, and people-focused recreation professional who is excited to build great experiences for the community. You enjoy working with people, solving problems, and jumping in wherever needed to make programs run smoothly. This position supports both the Terra Linda Community Pool and the Terra Linda Community Center.

A major focus of this position is aquatics management, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable working in a busy pool environment and has an interest in developing their skill in aquatics safety, staffing, and programming. You'll help coordinate up to 100 seasonal aquatics staff, support staff training, manage contracts with outside user groups, oversee daily pool operations, and help ensure our programs are safe, welcoming, and fun.

The right person is organized and dependable, but also flexible and willing to get hands-on when things don't go according to plan. You don't need to know everything on day one--we're looking for someone who is eager to learn, takes initiative, communicates well, and is comfortable working as part of a team.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who likes working with people and wants to make a difference in their community.
