Town Administrator
The new Town Administrator will serve as Chief Operating Officer under the direction of the First Selectman, who remains the Town’s Chief Executive Officer. This position has been created to provide professional management capacity, improve coordination across departments, support elected officials, and help implement a long-term vision for Brooklyn while preserving the rural, small-town character residents value. The Administrator will oversee day-to-day operations; supervise and coordinate departments; support budget preparation, capital planning, purchasing, grants, risk management, human resources, labor relations, facilities, technology coordination, communications, and special projects; and help ensure that municipal services are delivered efficiently, responsibly, and transparently.
This is a meaningful leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys both strategy and hands-on management. Brooklyn is seeking a professional who can build systems, clarify roles, strengthen internal communication, modernize procedures, support staff accountability, and provide thoughtful recommendations to the First Selectman, Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance, and other boards and commissions. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a small-town environment where relationships matter, where public trust is essential, and where the Administrator must be both a bridge and a steady source of professional guidance.
Priorities include strengthening administrative and human resources systems, coordinating budget and capital planning, supporting infrastructure improvements, improving interdepartmental communication, pursuing grants and alternative revenue opportunities, modernizing technology and financial procedures, assisting with economic and commercial development, and balancing growth with Brooklyn’s rural identity.
