DescriptionJoin our team as a
Public Works Technician I - Wastewater and make a lasting impact in our community! Under supervision, this person will perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled assignments in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of the City Public Sanitary Sewer System (PSSS), pumping facilities, sanitary sewer pipelines, tanks, and associated appurtenances.

- Work effectively with other crew members to repair or replace water or sewer service lines, water, or sewer mains.
- Use and maintain various types of tools and equipment related to the assigned division. These may include mowers, trimmers, Dixie choppers, hand saws, skill saws, chain saws, drill presses, bolt cutters, pickaxes, air compressors, jackhammers, cutting torches, various weight hammers, hitches, frames, electrical equipment, or others based on the assigned division.
- Exercise good judgment to work safely and use equipment properly, take proper safety precautions, and always wear proper safety equipment.
- Follow safety regulations, City and department policies and procedures.
- Operate a motor vehicle in carrying out the business of the department and the City, follow the rules of safety, and the laws of the State of Texas.
- Set up barricades when and where needed for the safety of employees and the public.
- Keep equipment, tools, and work areas clean. Immediately report damaged tools and/or equipment.
- Read, understand, and follow written and oral job instructions. Interpret maps, drawings, and plans as appropriate.
- Submit written reports legibly and completely. Maintain accurate files and records in hard copy and/or electronically on a computer.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with co-workers and others.
- Present a clean and well-groomed appearance.
- Able and willing to work outside in all kinds of weather, including extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, etc.
- Subject to after-hours call-out for emergency situations, as defined by supervisor.
- Perform as a responsible steward of the public trust and strive for excellence in public service, enhancing the quality of life for all.
- Act in a civil, respectful manner at all times to management, co-workers, and others.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- Valid driver's license
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in general construction, wastewater collection systems, or related field preferred.
Special Requirements: Possess or have the ability to obtain a Class A CDL within one (1) year of employment.

Life Insurance
Basic group life insurance protection is provided to eligible full-time employees in the amount of two times the annual salary as recorded at the beginning of each year.
Voluntary products are also available to full-time employees and include supplemental life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, cancer insurance, and critical care.

Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS)
All employees appointed to positions designated to work 1,000 hours or more per year must participate in the Texas Municipal Retirement System. TMRS is a qualified tax deferred retirement plan under Section 401 of the IRS. Seven percent of gross earnings are deducted each payroll as a pre-tax deduction and deposited into the member account. When an employee becomes vested and retires, the city provides 2-to-1 matching contributions.

Salary:
$40,107.35 - $48,614.97 Annually
