Description

The Human Services Agency (HSA) of the County of San Mateo is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Human Services Manager II. The current vacancy is in the Economic Self Sufficiency division of the Human Services Agency. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Economic Self-Sufficiency, the Human Services Manager II is responsible for a number of public assistance program areas including Medi-Cal, CalFresh, CalWORKs, General Assistance, Foster Care, and CAPI delivered throughout the County. Further, the position calls for the development of close, collaborative working relationships with other system of care agencies as well as with other service providers in the County.

In general, the Human Services Manager II:

In addition to having a demonstrated record of working in a cooperative manner with other agencies, both public and non-profit, the successful candidate will also have a demonstrated record of establishing strong community partnerships. The Human Services Manager II will provide critical leadership and oversight into program operations, staff supervision and partner engagement.

Qualifications
Departmental Status: An applicant must be a Human Services Agency employee with at least six months (1040 hours) of continuous service in a classified regular, probationary or extra help/limited term position prior to the final filing date to apply.

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is three years of increasingly responsible experience in a social or community services organization, including significant responsibility for funding, budget development, program utilization, and/or evaluation or coordination of community resources.

The examination process will consist of an application screening based on the candidates' application and responses to the supplemental questions. Candidates who pass the application screening will be invited to a panel interview (weight: 100%). Depending on the number of applicants, an application appraisal of education and experience may be used in place of other examinations or further evaluation of work experience may be conducted to group applicants by level of qualification . All applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. All examinations will be given in the County San Mateo, California and applicants must participate at their own expense.
