King County protects water quality and public health in the central Puget Sound region by providing high quality and effective treatment to wastewater collected from our local sewer agencies and combined sewers. We collect and clean wastewater while recovering valuable resources for a healthy and resilient Puget Sound. King County's wastewater operations staff provides the expertise and dedication required to operate and maintain wastewater treatment and collection facilities to ensure protection of the environment and the health of all King County communities.

About the Role:

As a West Offsite Supervisor, you will serve in a key Operations & Maintenance leadership role that reports to the Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager and collaborates across plant leadership to ensure the safe and effective collection and treatment of wastewater. This position serves the critical role of managing a team that is responsible for operating 21 pump stations, 25 regulator stations and outfalls, and 7 Combined Sewer and Wet Weather Treatment facilities. The successful candidate has a combination of knowledge and experience that demonstrates technical acumen in conveyance, plant operations, maintenance & process control.

The primary function of this role is to lead, direct, and supervise the operations team assigned to the King County West Offsite facilities.

Assign key staff to work with Capital Liaison Supervisors and represent operations in the design and construction of offsite capital projects.

Work with Human Resources to address staffing needs and work through personnel issues. You will also oversee employee development, performance management, discipline, and the hiring and selection process. Participate in the development and implementation of staff models and performance standards.

We manage a vital infrastructure that contributes to the region’s economic development and provide services to 18 cities, 15 local sewer districts, the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, and nearly two million residents across a 424-square-mile area in King, Snohomish, and Pierce counties. We enforce regulations to reduce harmful waste discharge and actively educate the public and businesses on water quality protection.
