Position DescriptionThis position is open to TTUHSC employees onlyAssesses and treats persons with hearing and balance related disorders. May fit hearing aids, implantable devices, and provide auditory training. May perform research and teaching related to hearing and balance problems.
Major/Essential Functions- Schedule patients for evaluation and treatment, and enter patient information into the computer system.
- Complete proper documentation, including evaluation, Audiology reports, and placement of an individualized plan of care with functional goals in the patient's medical record within 24 hours of initial contact.
- Assess the patient's learning needs, document them and provide appropriate instructions to the learner.
- Assess the need for adaptive equipment, place an order for it, and demonstrate its use.
- Plan, coordinate, and provide appropriate habilitative/rehabilitative intervention for the hearing impaired patient.
- Confer with the person(s) most closely involved in the patient's active management and keep them informed of any additional patient needs, treatment modifications, and/or progress.
- Assess and recommend needs for other services, and participate in the discharge process.
Required QualificationsRequires a master's degree in a related field and 0-2 years of experience. May be required to meet certain state licensing requirements. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
