Position DescriptionThe IT Support Technician I's scope includes providing technical support and assistance to departments, faculty, staff, and students with the use of basic hardware and some software support and maintenance.
Major/Essential Functions- Follows established procedures to provide basic service and instruction to faculty/staff/students' computer users.
- Follows directives communicated by the IT Division or UMC IT.
- Sets up and configures new equipment/software.
- Performs diagnostics, preventive maintenance, recommends and performs hardware and software updates as needed, and repairs existing computers and components.
- Develops and manages departmental servers and shares.
- Manages departmental inventory of computers and peripherals. Surpluses outdated, unused computers and printers.
- Troubleshoot and repair OBGYN Dell computers.
- Coordinates with the IT Division to recover department data on the institutional network servers.
- Completes the Annual Property Inventory certification with Property Custodian.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree with coursework in computer science, MIS, IT, or other related area OR a combination of related education and/or experience.
