POSITION INFORMATION:

The Victim Services Representative II reports to a Supervising Victim Services Representative (VSR) within the Bureau of Victim Services (BVS) and is responsible for assisting victims and witnesses of crimes in obtaining various government mandated services (Direct Services Division); and determining victim compensation benefits for crime-related financial losses through the California Victim Compensation Fund (Claims Verification Division). VSR IIs will be regularly exposed to graphic details of violent crime including murder, rape and child molestation and human trafficking. Positions assigned to Direct Services or Claims Verification will be dependent on their interest, program needs, and location of the vacancy.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:
One year experience assisting victims of crimes in applying for available services at the level of County of Los Angeles Victim Services Representative I*.

*Experience of at the level of VSR I is defined as assisting victims of crimes and witnesses in obtaining a variety of services, determining eligibility for reimbursement of financial losses resulting from crimes, and obtaining victims and witnesses participation in the prosecution of such crimes.

You may still qualify even if your job title isn't exactly the same as the one listed. What matters is that your experience is at a similar level - meaning your job involves similar responsibilities, requires comparable skills and knowledge, and takes place within a similar organizational structure. Please provide a clear explanation of your experience to demonstrate that it is at the appropriate level.

WITHHOLD INFORMATION: If you are within three months of meeting the experience requirement, then you can still apply for this exam. However, we will not include you on the list sent to hiring managers until we have verified that you meet the requirements.

LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver's License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

PHYSICAL CLASS:
2 - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

Location and Shift Requirements: Applicants must be willing and able to work in ANY AREA of Los Angeles County and on ANY SHIFT (e.g., evenings, nights, weekends, etc.).

Appointees may be required to travel when needed to carry out job-related essential f unctions.

Our assessment process for this exam consists of:

PART I:
A multiple choice and/or simulation assessment weighted at 50% assessing the following:
Achievement, Professional Potential, Responsibility, Teamwork, and Paying Attention to Details.

MULTIPLE CHOICE AND/OR SIMULATION ASSESSMENTS ARE NOT REVIEWABLE BY APPLICANTS PER CIVIL SERVICE RULE 7.19.

Candidates must meet the requirements, and achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on Part I in order to proceed to Part II of this examination.

PART II:
A Training and Experience Evaluation weighted at 50% assessing the following:

Vacancy Information: The resulting eligible list for this examination will be used to fill vacancies in the District Attorney's Office.

Eligibility Information: The names of candidates receiving a passing grade on the examination will be placed on the eligible list in the order of their score group for a period of 12 months following the date of promulgation.
We may use an alternative banding method in line with Civil Service Rule 11.01 (D).
