The LA County Department of Human Resources (DHR) has authorized Hiring as an Emergency under Civil Service Rule 13.04 on a limited and temporary basis. This action supports a time-sensitive, Board-directed workforce initiative requiring immediate staffing action to maintain continuity of critical public services.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:

Three years’ office clerical experience involving typewriting, one year of which must have been in a specialized* or supervisory** capacity.

Typewriting skill requirement: Ability to type at the rate of 40 net words per minute.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:
* Specialized clerical capacity means experience performing specialized clerical duties in a defined subject matter area with continuing responsibility for projects, questions, or problems that arise within an area of a program or functional specialty. This requires knowledge of rules, regulations, and other guidelines relating to completing assignments in the program area assigned. Such experience is gained at the level of Los Angeles County's class o f Intermediate Clerk , Intermediate Typist-Clerk , or higher.
**Supervisory capacity means experience includes responsibility for planning, assigning and reviewing the work of staff, evaluating employee performance, participating in interviewing and selecting new staff, and performance management.
Examples of specialized capacity office clerical work include: Cultural and Arts; Compliance and Safety; Consulting Advisory Services; Customer Service; Education Support; Environmental and Sustainability; Financial; Government and Public Administration; Healthcare; Hospitality and Event Management; Human Resources; IT and Technical Support; Legal; Library; Manufacturing and Production; Marketing and Communications; Nonprofit; Public Relations and Media Management; Quality Assurance; Real Estate; Research and Development; Supply Chain and Logistics, or similar industries.

Physical Class

Physical Class II - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
