Description

Under direction, evaluates referred patients; plans, coordinates resources and administers physical therapy treatment programs for the habilitation and rehabilitation of patients; plans and supervises the clinical skills of staff physical therapists, physical therapy assistant aides, volunteers, and physical therapy students as needed; and performs other related duties as required.

The ideal candidate is a compassionate and skilled Physical Therapist with experience serving children with complex medical conditions in a pediatric public health setting. They demonstrate strong clinical expertise in evaluation, treatment planning, and implementation of evidence-based interventions, while working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team that may include physicians, therapists, educators, and families. The ideal candidate communicates effectively with caregivers, is highly organized and adaptable in managing a diverse caseload, and is committed to providing culturally responsive, family-centered care that improves functional outcomes and quality of life for children served through California Children’s Services (CCS) Medical Therapy Program (MTP).

APPROXIMATE SALARIES
Physical Therapist: $41.23 - $57.65 per hour
Senior Physical Therapist:
$45.23 - $66.62 per hour

EDUCATIONAL/BILINGUAL INCENTIVE: Incumbents may be eligible for educational incentive of 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5% based on completion of an Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree that is not required for the classification. Incumbents may also be eligible for bilingual incentive depending upon operational need and certification of skill.

Physical Therapist and Senior Physical Therapist are represented by the Services Employees International Union (SEIU) and are eligible for overtime compensation.

NOTE: If appointed at the lower level, incumbent may be promoted to the higher level without further examination upon meeting the minimum requirements, demonstrating satisfactory performance, and in accordance with the business needs of the department.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:

Physical Therapist:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of physical therapy, or proof of equivalency.

Necessary Special Requirements:

Senior Physical Therapist:
A bachelor‘s degree from an accredited school of physical therapy, or proof of equivalency, plus two (2) years of physical therapy experience; OR successful completion of an internship program with the hiring department or an equivalent training program and one year of experience as a Physical Therapist.
